On 6th May, to celebrate the first anniversary of the Jordi Sierra Foundation’s Cultural Centre in Barcelona, students of "EAE Business School’s Master in Corporate Communication Management":http://en.eae.es/full-time/marketing-y-comercial/master-en-direccion-de-... organized a truly special event.

The focus of the event was Barcelona Positiva, an initiative that evolved from the efforts of five students of the Master’s course at EAE who wanted to promote the idea that “happiness is the best business” through a range of actions that got the public involved. The students in question were Alejandra Ramírez, Lina Vanegas, Marianella Chávez, Marta Calderón and Yamile Castellanos.

So, what did the initiative involve? A group of 50 children from the Lluís Vives Primary School were the first protagonists of a human chain of good deeds known as Flying Books (Libros Voladores). Each of the children passed a book to the attendees of the event. On the first page of the book, they had written a good deed that they had done for somebody. From then onwards, the new recipient of the book had to keep the chain going, passing the book on to somebody else once that has done a good deed and written it down on the second page.

“The idea is that, once all of the pages of the book have been completed with good deeds, they can be returned to the Jordi Sierra i Fabra Foundation to discover what journey they have been on around the city”, explained Hortensia Galí, the Director of the Foundation’s Cultural Centre, which was the starting point for the books.

The author Jordi Sierra i Fabra, the founder of the Cultural Centre in Barcelona, reminded us the importance of conducting more actions such as this. “What better initiative could there be to celebrate not only the first year of the Jordi Sierra i Fabra Foundation in Barcelona, but also a year of hopes, dreams and all of the many things that can be achieved with culture, books, enthusiasm and a positive attitude in times such as these”.

Without doubt, for all everybody involved, it was a motivating and positive day that dared us to dream. Many congratulations to our students and the best of luck with this great initiative!
