Marta Juan, the Talent Acquisition Manager at LVMH, took part in the Recruiting Day BeLOEWE 2018. During the event, students from various business schools, such as IE, ESIC, IEDE, ISEM and the Universidad de Comillas, gained an insight into the culture of a luxury brand as prestigious as Loewe, as well as actively taking part in group activities and oral presentations.
A total of 38 participants attended Recruiting Day, 7 of whom come from our School. María Covadonga Cuétara, Katharina Zobel, Laura Zarzuela and Karla Andreina, from the Master in Marketing and Sales; Manuela Lahidalga, from the Master in Corporate Communication; and two students from the Master in International Business, Carolina Lauretti, and Leticia González, all took part in the fifth edition of the recruitment program BeLOEWE 2018.
Held in English, the aim of the event is to fill 14 positions in departments including Digital Marketing, Project Management and Trade Marketing, on an internship basis for a period running from November 2018 to March 2019.
Karla Martín, a student on the Master in Marketing and Sales, emphasized how well the event was organized by Loewe. "What most struck me was how intensive and efficient the experience was. They really try hard to get to know the participants compared to other companies". With respect to the exercises, Karla described them as "creative and challenging in all aspects, but I felt confident and sure about my responses and performance throughout the event". She added that the test that she found "most intimidating was when they showed us the pitch video and the managers asked us questions about our professional background".
After welcoming the attendees to Loewe's Recruiting Day and sorting out their accreditations, they went on to introduce the jury responsible for evaluating three different exercises: a Personal Speech, a Business Case related to the creation of a luxury product and, to finish off, a series of individual interviews for each candidate.
María Cuétara, a student on the Master in Marketing & Sales, also highlighted the organization of the event: "We were all made to feel really welcome. Everything had Loewe's image on it, which was a nice touch because it gave the event a sense of identity and formality. The people were extremely friendly and welcoming". María found the second test very interesting, which involved developing a luxury product. She also described the "conference given by the Marketing Director of Loewe perfumes" as really rewarding. In María's opinion, the hardest was when they showed the video of the attendees and they had to answer the managers' questions "because nerves can always stop you from giving it your best".
Laura Zarzuela, a student on the Master in Marketing and Sales, also referred to how well the event was organized, adding that "the most remarkable thing was the chance to gain a first-hand insight into the manufacturing process of one of the bags, how the leather is processed and the finishes". As far as she is concerned, the most complex exercise was the group activity "in which we had to develop a product from scratch. We had very little time and the tasks were very specific". In terms of the dynamics of the event, Manuela Lahidalga found the pace fairly relaxed, but added that "perhaps the hardest part was the group exercise, because everybody wants to stand out, make an impact on the observers and get everyone to agree to meet an objective and stay on track. This was the hardest part because there are a lot of personalities who haven't had the time to build trust between them".
EAE's Professional Careers Department
With respect to the support received from EAE's Professional Careers Department, Karla Martín explained that "EAE has helped us a great deal throughout the process. Patricia and Federica have done an incredible job. We even had a private presentation from a recruitment expert". Laura Zarzuela added that "both before and during the event, we had the constant help of EAE. We felt extremely well supported".
In terms of their expectations of forming part of the Loewe internship program, Laura emphasized the fact that, despite the candidates' high level of qualification, "the opportunity to take part in the event has been an achievement in itself. Karla Martín's expectations are high. "I am really excited and passionate about taking part in the Loewe internship program. I am nervously looking forward to receiving Loewe's response". María Cuétara is optimistic, saying that she is confident that she has "all the knowledge, tools and attitude to share with Loewe", as well as the "humility and drive required to learn everything I need to", adding that she hopes that she has "fulfilled her potential and represented EAE in a dignified way".
Manuela Lahidalga has just received the call from the Loewe internship program. "They told me that I have been selected. I am really happy because I left the Recruiting Day with a really good feeling, wanting to form part of the company. The event makes you want to have that feeling of belonging".
This week, Loewe will contact all the people selected at the Recruiting Day BeLOEWE 2018. We wish the representatives of EAE Business School the very best of luck!
