Company Week, a top employability event at EAE Business School

International companies make direct contact with students in dynamic sessions that combine knowledge with practical activities.
EAE’s Professional Careers team recently held Company Week at the Madrid Campus to enhance the visibility of its most talented students. Leading companies, such as SAP and Enterprise, and consultancies like EY and Robert Walters organized workshops and group activities in which the School’s students keenly took part.
Over the course of a week, international organizations from various sectors, such as Meliá, Avon, BAT and Lukkap, interacted with students from different Master programs at the Madrid Campus. The event also welcomed the participation of organizations in the field of logistics, such as DHL, and technological giants like Telefónica and Phone House, among others.
The software multinational SAP, represented by the Employer Branding Director Ana Gómez,, Account Executive Paloma Martín, and Talent Acquisition Manager Kati Kruster, used the opportunity of Company Week to present the company’s business lines and underline its commitment to technology throughout the worlds. The company’s slogan “Best-Run Businesses Make the World Run Better” sums up its commitment to CSR to a great extent, as well as to the joint initiatives it runs with various NGOs. Working at SAP offers a wide range of international projection options to the students selected for its training programs.
Patricia Veas, the Director of HR Employer Branding at EY, and Carlos Suárez, the Deputy Business Partner at the firm, ran a dynamic session that combined a company presentation with a business case to resolve (choosing between digitizing a recruitment process or an onboarding program for new professionals). Patricia explained that they value the students’ attitude very highly. “We like having proactive people on board, who like working in a team with people with different kinds of experiences, even at an international level. Attitude is the most important aspect for us”, emphasized Patricia.
In Spain, Ernst & Young has 14 offices, while at a global level, it has areas, 28 regions, 150 countries and 728 offices, Mobility between countries in the company is simple. Its training department is known as ‘Developing our people’ and it works in various fields: University, International Training and Milestones (international training program in Amsterdam as professionals rise through the categories).
The consultancy presented its internship program and gave an overview of the support and mentoring process led by coaches. In addition, the consultants explained the company’s professional promotion structure. “There are as many goals as there are professionals at EY. You decide your own”. In this respect, EY’s objective is for professionals to be promoted each year. Development is constant and nothing is static. The vacant positions are posted on the website eymarcaladiference, where students can apply for the offer around the world.
Alex Coffin, the Director of Walters People España, and Marta Lara, a consultant of the Walters People Madrid division of Robert Walters, combined the company presentation with a practical session. In the session, the Walters People gave some valuable tips to candidates to make their employment search more effective, such as checking searches on social media and other advice on curriculums and preparing for an interview, emphasizing that we should organize them in advance, take care of the details during the conversation and follow up in some cases.
Recruitment experts Robert Walters have three business lines and a focus on people who are keen to develop professionally abroad. “Depending on the profile, you’ll be in one division or another”. The consultant works for large multinationals and operates all over the world. The working teams are formed by young people. “We work hard but we also have a lot of fun, with a team of young, very international people”, they explained. To finish off, the practical session covered aspects related to introductions and questions about hobbies, interests, strengths and an elevator pitch.
Alex Coffin emphasized the importance of training to search for employment, a command of English, an open mindset and strong communication skills. To end the session, the Director of Walters People España explained that he had been pleasantly surprised by the high potential of EAE students.
