The students on the Executive MBA came together at Barcelona's iconic Círculo Ecuestre to mark the end of a year of studies and experiences. The event gave them the chance to exchange their impressions with classmates and lecturers. They were all very pleased to finish the Master, which has triggered changes at both a personal and professional level. "I have learned so much on the Master. That was my objective for taking it, to learn about lots of topics that I didn't have a strong command of", explained Jordi Vila. "I am really pleased because my goal is to run a technical department and, to do so, you have to understand the roles of many other people". Jordi works as a technical project manager and he wants to consolidate and apply what he has learned on the Master and reach a senior position in the near future.
Some of the students emphasized that the Master has given them a business foundation that they lacked before, especially with respect to launching their own entrepreneurial ventures. One such case is Cristian Roma, who explained that the program has given him "a cross-disciplinary overview of business. I had a command of the technical part, but not the business side of things". He explained that he once started a business but that he lacked lots of the knowledge required at the time. "I decided to take the Executive MBA because we need to have an entrepreneurial mindset. It is essential nowadays and great in terms of motivation". He now works in a company in which he applies the knowledge acquired on the programs.
Many of the recent EMBA graduates are already working, such as Gerard Soler, who chose this Master in order to grow professionally. "I needed a more global overview of a company. For instance, I needed to understand the financial side of things, which was a mystery to me. The EMBA met all these requirements". In the near future, he plans to get promoted in his company or look for a new job. He does not rule out the option of starting his own venture, especially as he and his classmates developed a really strong Thesis project. "We created a company from scratch. It was not easy, but we will have to see if it really translates into sales".
The lecturers also gave their evaluation of the students, whom they have watch evolve over the course of the Master. "At EAE, we are improving methodologically and adapting to the teaching approaches that society now requires. In our opinion, the constant feedback that the students give us is essential", explained Jordi Delcor, a lecturer on the EMBA projects, as well as on other Masters. He emphasized the importance of being critical and learning to think about why we do things, "an approach that we introduce on all the Masters". The lecturer also thinks that it important for students to have intuition and method, finding the right blend between the two concepts. He added that the students are tenacious, because working and studying at the same time is a real challenge.
For Diana Frizzotti, the EMBA has been her first experience on a Master. "I was really motivated because I have been working in the logistics sector for 13 years and I need to learn about a diverse selection of topics that were all new to me. It has been a really positive experience". Diana comes from Argentina but has been living in Spain for 17 years. She emphasized how well she got along with her group. "I am so happy to have met my classmates. I have learned loads from them and we are missing each other already".
Alexandre García is a professional in the marketing and sales sector. "I have learned about other disciplines, such as finance, and less in terms of marketing. The Executive MBA opens up your overall vision of business and gives you a greater opportunity to grow within a company", he explained. Alexandre took time out of his career to be able to study this year. He now plans to work in a different area to sales and in a more senior position.
Welcome drinks were served at the event, before the participants enjoyed a formal dinner in one of the rooms of the Círculo Ecuestre.
