Wednesday 10th June 2020 – Over 130 students of EAE Business School were selected to take part in a new edition of the Building Leaders Hackathon 2020, which was held virtually on 3rd and 4th June. Organized by EAE’s Professional Careers Department, this initiative is an innovative experience in which companies and participants work together to generate a solution to the challenges set in the competition.
Bimbo, DHL, Philips, SAP, LG, Schneider Electrics, Ceralito Siro, Svar, kantar, MSD, Rimac, Stef and Vass were the companies taking part, setting challenges for the EAE students. During the event, the recruiters went around the teams to see and get to know the profiles so that, depending on what they are looking for, they could contact the participants and schedule interviews and selection processes.
The students formed groups of around five members and each company was assigned two groups, which competed against each other to resolve the challenge in the fastest and most effective way possible. The winning team of the hackathon had to get through three crucial phases: developing and putting forward a proposal for the assigned challenge; competing with and beating the team tackling the same challenge; and last but not least, all the winners went to the semi-final, which took place in the general room, where the overall winner was chosen based on a vote.
The winning team of this edition was formed of five students from both the Barcelona and Madrid Campus, taking the MBA, Master in Design Thinking & Customer Experience, Master in Marketing and Commercial Management, Master in Financial Management and Master in Project Management. Their goal was to successfully manage to transform Rimac’s vehicle insurance product in view of the current situation in Peru caused by Covid 19
The winners will have access to the Rimac Seguros’ Growth Program and will have an interview with the company’s recruitment team, as well as winning a PDA and a feedback session with a certified Coach.
“EAE’s Hackathon enhances your visibility among the participating companies and, in addition, it is an opportunity to increase the likelihood of having an interview with one of the companies in the short, medium or long term. Moreover, this experience involves a steep learning curve, which forces you out of your comfort zone. You learn a lot of new things and develop skills related to business, decision-making and real situations”, explained Federica Assandria, the Career Manager and event organizer.
