DPL Psicoac is a recruitment company structured in two separate sections: DPL, a temporary employment agency founded 15 years ago to facilitate personnel selection for organizations and help people who want to access the employment market; and Psicoac, an HR consultancy specializing in finding the right people for its clients' organizations and accompanying these people to align them with the organization's expectations of the positions they take up.
According to the company's General Director, Laura Gascón, this is no easy task. "Companies nowadays expect people joining a company automatically to know what they have to do, and it is important to identify what we have to do to settle people into their jobs". Laura was very clear right from the start that she want to change the perception of what a temporary employment agency was. "Our approach and outlook for 2020 is to be a company that doesn't look at companies but rather at people". In this respect, they ask people where they want to work and then search for this job. As such, "we select companies, not people". In other words, "we accompany people who want to work to find the right jobs".
With this philosophy, Laura explained to the EAE students that they carried out a study of their clients last year and asked some of them to leave because what they said and what was actually the case had nothing to do with each other. The important thing is "knowing what you have done to support people in the company".
Therefore, DPL is a bold company that leads by example and which defines itself as an organization with talent, strange, "fast pigs" (they may break a leg but they keep on walking) and an "ugly" organization (they don't depend of numbers to attract people). Moreover, they have created DPL App, a comprehensive application that monitors a candidate's progress when working and gives a precise and immediate response on their availability, enables pools to be monitored and also acts a geolocation device.
"85% of our clients work in the logistics sector"
Most of DPL's clients work in the logistics sector. "This sector underwent a great crisis and a lot of people were laid off. Now, it is back in fashion and there are lots of positions to be covered". In this respect, the recruiter explained that they are filling vacancies throughout the logistics chain.
Within this context, she advised students that the main challenges in the sector were embracing technology, growing costs, implementing a customer-focused strategy, working with third parties, questioning the business model and the gap between supply and demand.
Rather than talking about talent retention, Laura Gascón emphasized "putting the focus on the your capacity as a company to be attractive and sustainable, Companies have to be aware that this is not a matter of retaining but rather selecting". She added that, when it comes to companies, "60% is attitude and 40% is aptitude. The real challenge is adapting to the company".
