2020 is on its way and it will be full of new developments. The coming year will be accompanied by a wave of technological innovations in areas such as artificial intelligence and big data, which, as well as modifying our forms of communication and entertainment, will transform the way that we shop and sell. Electronic commerce is set to become the epicentre of some of the most interesting new developments in the year ahead, so we need to keep up-to-date with them. What will they be? Check out this overview of the key ecommerce trends in Spain in 2020:
1 - Voice Commerce
Despite the prime positioning of image, voice is becoming an increasingly important medium, as shown by the rise in voice commerce. Applications like Siri or Alexa have already highlighted the benefits of using voice. As a result, many stores are adapting their applications and platforms to enable shopping through voice commands.
As well as making shopping a more dynamic experience, voice has become a rich source of data that, as the FTI explained, is helping electronic commerce personalize the range of products and services that it offers.
2 - Big Data
Without a doubt, Big Data is another of the key trends in ecommerce to watch out for in Spain in 2020. The proliferation of face, voice and movement recognition systems has made it increasingly easy to identify and even monitor people’s actions. As a result, stores will have greater access than ever to data on consumers’ tastes and preferences.
Amazon, for example, implemented an emotional recognition interface in 2018 that, based on the study of people’s most recent interactions, could identify any type of discomfort or illness. When it did so, the software automatically sent advertising on pills to relive the illness detected.
3 - Artificial Intelligence (IA)
AI, for its part, will become another key trend in ecommerce in Spain in the months ahead. For instance, chatbots will be a feature of most online store, helping both the seller and the customer to optimize searches and make smart recommendations. Moreover, AI will be fundamental at an operational level, because, through autonomous digital assistants, it will have the capacity to analyse data, predict results and examine variables to improve staff productivity.
4 - Marketplaces
The proliferation of marketplaces will be another trend that defines ecommerce in Spain in 2020. This model, in which multiple companies and consumers participate, such as Amazon or eBay, will continue to expand to the extent that they surpass the traditional model of electronic commerce.
5 - Audiovisual Evolution
To end, another key development will be the audiovisual evolution. Video and advances in formats such as virtual reality, augmented reality, 360° videos and holograms will be another of the key ecommerce trends in Spain in the coming year. These technologies will provide new shopping experiences, as well as new ways of promoting and consuming products.
Now that you know the new developments that lie ahead, which would you implement?
