Innovation is an essential factor in overcoming any kind of crisis and nobody is more aware of this fact than the students on EAE’s Master in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. With this in mind, a group of 3 classmates on the program, Diana López Benjumea, Deyanira Fernández Maldonado and Carlos Obregón Lazcano, decided to take action and participate in the Virtual Hackathon: A Response to Covid-19, organized by the Community of Madrid, with their initiative entitled “Chambitas”.
With the aim of activating Madrid’s scientific, university and innovation community to search for solutions to the complex situation triggered by the coronavirus pandemic, the Community of Madrid has organized this virtual event that, through collaboration and teamwork, aims to propose fast, real and tangible solutions in 3 of the key areas affected by the situation: health, the community and the economy.
The students Diana López, Deyanira Fernández and Carlos Obregón, with the support of their mentors Rocío Álvarez-Ossorio and Aleksandra Olszewska, decided to take part in the Hackathon with their initiative Chambitas, which can be summarized as a platform that facilitates “the connection between the residents of Madrid to fill the jobs generated in the scenario caused by Covid-19, thereby helping to reactivate the economy”.
The Hackathon was held on 4th and 5th April and, as explained on the event’s official website, the participating teams took part in intensive sessions in which they worked on their ideas to transform them into prototypes, which were then presented in videos like the one above.
The event organizers are currently evaluating the ideas put forward and, once they complete their evaluation, they will select 15 teams that will move on to the next stage, consisting of an intensive week in which they will develop and mature the prototype, before finally presenting the definitive pitch to a panel of experts on 13th April.
Just as entrepreneurship and innovation have helped us overcome previous hard times, we are sure that this time they will do again. That is why EAE Business School continues strengthening creativity and supporting the different initiatives developed by our students and lecturers. We make it happen!
