His expectations in terms of learning and redirecting his professional career towards data analysis are being fulfilled at the School. Jordi feel that he is just in the right place at the right time with this Master.
First of all, tell us how you got the opportunity to join Everis.
I had the chance to take part in the selection process at Everis after submitting my curriculum at the Talent Week organized by EAE. Although the company was not aiming to highlight its Business Intelligence Department with the presentation, I thought it would be interesting to attend the event, and I took along a printed copy of my CV. That paved the way for me to start the process to join the company.
What are your day-to-day duties at the company?
In the short time I have been working at Everis, I have been working closely with my boss on a project to adapt the data processing of a large Spanish banking company to the new RGPD regulations on data protection.
What interested you about Everis to encourage you to apply for the offer?
Some lecturers had mentioned that the consultancy was a good environment in which to start a career as a data analyst. In a field with so many branches, I thought it would be a good way to get a broad overview of the sector and then decide what part of BI I was best at and most interested in.
What was the selection process like?
It first consisted of a brief telephone interview and a group exercise with HR. Lastly, I had an interview with the managers of the BI department. It was a very transparent process. At all times, I felt that I could ask about my application with confidence and I was clear about the company's conditions and expectations, In the same way, in the interview final, they asked me openly about my expectations and plans for the future. The process didn't quite last a month.
How did you feel when they told you that you had been selected?
It was a great source of joy for me. I felt confident that the position would suit me and the process had been enjoyable in terms of the professional and personal contact. However, at the same time, I knew that it was an opportunity that I didn't want to let pass me by, in view of what it meant in terms of training possibilities and experience. I felt that it was an important step forward in my career.
What do you think you can contribute to Everis?
I can bring lots of passion to learn and repay the company and department the trust it has placed in me. At the same time, I have the experience of having worked in large companies in the field of communication, which I think gives me an insight that I can contribute, enabling me to take the lead in lots of situations.
From the perspective of Everis, what experience do you think you can gain?
I have a tutor who is guiding me throughout my internship. In addition, Everis runs training courses that I can take part in with the support of my tutor and colleagues in the department. Of course, I also get the experience of working in real projects and see how top professionals do it.
What are the company's strengths?
It is a great consultancy in the full throes of growth after its agreement with NTT Data, a large Japanese multinational. In terms of BI, it operates with leading clients in a very diverse range of sectors.
You decided to tale the Master in Business Intelligence and Technological Innovation at EAE Business School, Why did you choose this tuition program and why at EAE?
After working in the social media department of the digital newspaper ElNacional.cat, throughout its phase of growth and consolidation, it became clear that data analysis can make companies in any field improve. Finding out the tuition plan on the Master was a revelation for me. It paved the way for me to learn more and redirect my career towards data analysis.
As you mentioned, your Bachelor Degree was in journalism and literary studies. What led you to make the big change towards Business Intelligence?
I felt that BI has become a fundamental factor in the digital employment environment. I knew that, what the future of my career may be, I wanted to build it taking full advantage of the information that you can obtain from data. On the Master, I have seen how the tools of BI and Big Data are effectively a factor that exponentially multiplies our understanding of the indicators that help us make decisions.
How do you think this sector will transform the entire employment market?
In my opinion, it is going to transform it completely. Though it might sound grandiose but, at the very least, digitization makes the processing of the date gathered inevitable. However, as an even more decisive factor, I think that companies that do not take advantage of BI more than their rivals will lose a competitive advantage.
With respect to the Master, are your expectations being met at EAE?
Yes, my expectations are being fulfilled. I enrolled to learn and redirect my career, and I can say that I have achieved both of these objectives.
What are your professional objectives in the short and long term?
In the short term, I want to take full advantage of the internship. In the long term, I want to specialize in the aspects of BI that offer me the most opportunities.
What aspects of what you have learned on the Master would you highlight?
I would emphasize that it has taught me the foundations of data analysis so that I can then go on and specialize. Moreover, I have gained an insight into how the BI sector and the company in general are evolving from lecturers with extensive experience.
Beyond the tuition, what aspects of your time at the School would you highlight?
From my time at EAE, I would highlight that I have learned about the BI employment world from lecturers far beyond the strictly technical aspects. In addition, I can't fail to mention the guidance and support that I got from certain classmates who have more experience than me.
Would you recommend EAE Business School? Why?
Yes, I would recommend EAE's Master de Business Intelligence, at least to somebody who is interested in data analysis and wants to redirect their career towards this field, as was my case. It is a sector with a need for professionals and this Master is well-aligned with what companies and recruiters are looking for.
