Brands That Offer Their Support to Ukraine

The world is being profoundly shaken by war. Millions of people are being affected and having to flee their homes. Faced with a humanitarian crisis, many companies have stepped up and shown their support. These are some examples of how companies are helping the victims of war.
Accomodation for Refugees | Airbnb and Airbnb.org
Airbnb, the lodging company, has contacted leaders of different countries around Europe (such as Poland, Germany, Hungary and Romania) through its NGO, Airbnb.org, in order to offer their support. They intend to receive up to 100,000 refugees and offer them free accomodation. Expenses for their stay will be covered both by the organisation as well as by the hosts.
Emergency Beds | Hotel Companies
As for hotel owners, the Spanish Confederation of Hotel and Tourist Accommodations (CEHAT) has made a call to solidarity among the member hotels to offer their beds to the refugees coming into the country. The confederation, which has 1.8 million beds in all its different hotels, has offered the government to lead the coordination of arriving refugees until a solution to the lodging crisis is found.
Free Phone Calls and SMS | Phone Companies
The war between Ukraine and Russia has raised concerns all across the world. There are many people who need to contact their families and loved ones in Ukraine and that’s why some companies like Orange, Jazztel, Vodafone, Lowi, Movistar and MásMóvil are offering their clients free phone calls and SMS to Ukrainian numbers.
Humanitarian and Sanitary Aid | Ferrovial
Ferrovial has launched an internal campaign called “Together for Ukraine” in order to collect donations among their employees to support people being affected by the war, both in Ukraine and to those who had had to flee the country. The company will be donating a considerable sum as well: they are planning on donating twice as much as their employees around the world, which will make up for an even bigger donation.
Humanitarian Help in Trucks Destined to Ukraine | Primafrio and TIR viviendas
TIR Viviendas, founded in Spain by a Ukrainian businessman, has started a humanitarian campaign to face the conflict, through which they intend to send funds, food, and sanitary material to the country. Primafrío, a logistics and transportation company, has come on board with this campaign and has offered their fleet of trucks to get donations to their destination.
Donation Campaigns | Eroski and Telefónica
Since March 1st, a donation campaign to help the victims of the war has been carried out in every store of the Eroski network. Clients now have the chance to make voluntary donations on the supermarket tills. Those donations will go to the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and will add to the 7 million that UNICEF assigns to charitable causes every year.
As for Telefónica, in collaboration with the Spanish Red Cross NGO, they are offering everyone the chance to donate through the website of Fundación Telefónica, which adds to the already mentioned free mobile service.
Warm Food | World Central Kitchen
Famous Chef, José Andrés —known for his philanthropic work, which won him the 85 million dollar award granted by Jeff Bezos—, has taken his organisation (World Central Kitchen) to the Polish border in order to receive refugees fleeing the war with warm food. On February 28th, they announced that they had given out 4,000 meals in 18 hours.
Guaranteed Internet | SpaceX
After seeing that the country’s internet connection was being threatened, Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, asked Elon Musk —via Twitter— for his satellite internet service, Starlink. Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Starlink, accepted the petition and promised to send more satellites in the coming days.

Raquel Sánchez, Spanish Minister of Transportation, Mobility and Urban Agenda, has announced that the country’s train company will offer free tickets to those escaping Ukraine and for those wishing to return to Ukraine to offer their help.
