Have you ever thought about the importance of concentration? How vital it is for doing everyday tasks and more crucial matters such as being more effective in your work or taking full advantage of your study time? It could be said that concentration is the foundation of efficacy, which, in turn, is the only guarantee of success. With this in mind, we offer you this series of tips that will help you keep active and focused so that you can succeed working remotely or studying at home during the lockdown. Do we have your attention? Let’s begin!
1. Creating your morning ritual
For most of us, our home tends to be synonymous with relaxation. Therefore, we have to establish a morning routine similar to or the same as the routine we have when going to the office or university. Get up, make the bed, shower and get dressed. Although you are working at the desk in your bedroom or in the sitting room, it is important that you mind realises that downtime is over and it is time for action, so that we can concentrate on the tasks that we have ahead of us.
2. Prepare your workspace
Once you sit down at your desk, try to make sure that you have everything you need at hand. This enables you to prevent distractions and you won’t waste any time or energy getting up to fetch things all the time. Check that everything is ready in the evening or in the morning before sitting down to work. Make sure you have the computer charger, your headphones, your glasses, water to keep hydrated, all the tools you will needs, etc. And don’t forget to ensure that you have a good chair that lets you work in comfort and at ease.
3. Set objectives
Another important factor for keeping concentrated is to set clear and achievable objectives for the day and week. Writing down the tasks and projects that you need to move forward, as well as the times for communicating with your team, is an excellent strategy for making the most of the time you will be working
4. Keep an eye on the details
Don’t let anything slip under the radar. During this period, it is more crucial than ever to keep an eye on all the smaller details to ensure that we complete our work in the best possible way and achieve the goals we have set. Help yourself with notes, reminders and alarms to prevent lockdown from blocking your mind or making important details slip through the net. Trying to remember everything will only lead to stress and forgetting.
5. Report your progress
As you advance towards your goals and make progress on your tasks, it is important to report back to both your bosses and colleagues. As well as enhancing the unity of the team, this enables you to get feedback, which will ensure that you keep moving forward on the right path.
6 - Strengthen the bonds with your team
As well as reporting your progress, don’t forget that you form part of a team and that communication is fundamental when working at distance. Therefore, strengthen the bonds with your teammates and try to collaborate in any way you can. These bonds generate a sense of belonging, which, in turn, boosts concentration.
7. Keep it silent
In the same way as keeping your mobile on silent, you have to do everything you can to achieve a calm workspace that enables you to focus fully on your studies or work. It is easy to get distracted at home, so the calmer your workspace is, the easier it will be for you to concentrate.
8 - Reward yourself
Rewards are important and should never be overlooked. Checking you mobile, eating a snack or spending a while on some other activity that helps stimulate you once you complete a task or achieve an objective will enable you to get back to work or study afterwards with refreshed efficacy and decisiveness.
Put these tips into practice and your concentration will be your greatest ally throughout this lockdown to keep you your work and study plans moving forward
