An MBA and an EMBA (Executive MBA) are very similar programs in terms of the content they offer; however, each has its own characteristics in terms of duration, depth, and pace of learning.

Regarding duration, both depend on the school and the format in which they are carried out. The main difference is that the MBA is typically a full-time program, while the EMBA is part-time, allowing professionals to combine work with the course without much complication. The in-person classes of an Executive MBA are held in the evening, on weekends, or through short, intensive periods, depending on the specific format or program chosen by the students. For example, the Global Executive MBA at EAE offers short, intensive periods called residential weeks in different locations worldwide.

In terms of pace, the EMBA is designed with shorter but more intense class hours compared to a full-time program, which allows for better time optimization and minimal interference with work activities. Full-time MBA students have intensive and demanding class schedules, so it is not recommended to combine the program with other professional activities. The full-time program is an immersive experience. Although the academic structure of both an EMBA and an MBA is based on the same foundation, full-time MBAs tend to offer more customization options, more elective subjects, and opportunities to enhance the academic experience.
