In this scenario, the role of company administrators and director is becoming increasingly important, as they are in charge of leading this critical sector. So, what does it take to be a business administrator in today’s dynamic world? What tools do they need?
We talk to the Director of EAE’s Bachelor Degree in Business Administration and Management, Albert Arisó who, as well as sharing his insight into the modern business world, also gives us an overview of the key features of this Bachelor Degree designed to train the key players of the future.
What does studying Business Administration involve in today’s dynamic world and what skills are required by a professional who wants to build a career in this sector?
EAE Business School’s Bachelor Degree in Business Administration and Management is designed to equip professional to lead, manage and run a company or organization effectively with a clear practical focus. As well as the specific competences developed on EAE’s Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, we strive to ensure that our students are results-oriented and have great analytical capacity, as well as having strategic vision and being proactive and adaptable to change, without losing the global perspective required in the current environment.
In today’s technological world, which business areas have gained strength? What companies does EAE have partnership agreements with on the Bachelor Degree in Business Administration?
We could argue that all areas are affected by technological development but I would highlight areas related to analysis and creating added value. Companies want strategic profiles that take charge of managing but also understand and interpret what is happening in their immediate and future environment.
EAE is in partnership with several companies in all areas, both public and private, such as Everis, Seat, Europcar, Randstad, Deloitte, Privalia, Schneider Electric, Freixenet, Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB), Lidl, Synectic, Tech Data, BDO, etc.
In your opinion, is specialization more important nowadays? Why? How does this Bachelor Degree support specialization?
Specialization guarantees efficacy and quality in terms of training professionals who know their tasks and who, through their expertise, gain the recognition and confidence of others. At EAE, within their tuition plan, students can choose from an extensive range of courses based on the ones that best suit the profile that they want to develop: finance, marketing, etc.
They say that experience teaches you more than any theoretical class. Do you agree? Tell us about the teaching methodology on this Bachelor Degree.
The methodology applied in our Bachelor Degree is based on resolving practical cases that our students have to tackle by putting all the knowledge they have acquired into practice. As a result, students not only have the theoretical foundation but also the confidence of being able to apply the skills required in practice to resolve any situation, with an assurance of success.
Tell us about the mentors. Is it important to have well-qualified guides in our education? What are the lecturers on the Bachelor Degree in Business Administration like?
Mentoring and tutoring are an intrinsic feature of our learning model. In partnership with other international universities, we have developed a specific model that combines mentoring with tutoring. As a result, we can provide personalized training in which the student receives accompaniment and guidance throughout their academic career, and even afterwards through the activities organized by EAE Alumni.
The lecturers on our Bachelor Degree at EAE, as well as having great value at a human level, also combine professionalism, as many of them are company executives, with the academic rigour of a university Bachelor Degree.
What positions are in the highest demand nowadays? Tell us about the internships on this Bachelor Degree. What about in terms of employability?
They are all related to knowledge. Companies are looking for a new category of executives that enable them to manage uncertainty and disruption in their business models. I would highlight the positions of financial risk analyst, management control, area directors, etc. They all require university qualifications, a solid knowledge of business management and a high level of English.
EAE’s Bachelor Degree in Business Administration and Management includes up to 630 hours of company internship, which count as elective credits. The Professional Careers Department regularly runs workshops on key issues related to good professional performance, in which students are accompanied and given advice, review their curriculum and honing their search strategy for professional opportunities. For instance, the importance of personal branding, identifying strength and professional competences, focusing on recruitment interviews and setting yourself apart from other candidates, etc.
EAE has a highly rated Professional Careers Service. Most students who apply to the Professional Careers Service to do an external internship are successful. 95.8% of EAE graduates start working while still studying or straight after completing their studies.
How has globalization affected the development of this Bachelor Degree? Do students have the option of doing part of the program abroad?
As well as the Erasmus Program, the students on the Bachelor Degree who want to can study in the USA, United Kingdom or China. EAE has specific, preferential agreements in place with Pace University and Kean University in the United States; Northampton University in the United Kingdom, and Shanghai University in China, among others..
What about networking? Why is it important? How is it promoted on the Bachelor Degree?
From the students’ first contact with EAE, networking is a permanent feature of all kinds of participative activities and conferences with professionals and executive, which give them a first-hand insight into the particular aspects of the day-to-day reality of the company. After starting the classes, we run a set of activities known as Welcome Week, when the students can get to know each other and get support from the people who will accompany throughout their learning journey: lecturers, tutors and the rest of the academic staff.
We also encourage students take part in participative activities and an Employment Forum in which leading companies take part, online or in-person, to assess and interview students. EAE also has a strong and vibrant Alumni Community, which regularly organizes talks and conferences with executives, who share their insight and experiences in companies.
Students have the option of taking the Bachelor Degree in Business Administration and Management in a bilingual format or fully in English. What are the benefits of this option?
Within the context of internationalization, the option of taking the Bachelor Degree in English opens doors in a world in which the ability to interact and embrace interculturalism are essential values for performing effectively in any situation. Entrepreneurship is closely linked to business administration. How does the Bachelor Degree help students who want to develop their own idea?
We help them identify and gain all the competences they require. In fact, in their Thesis, with the support of a tutor, students focus on getting their own business venture on the right track.
